Located at Klapparstígur 28-30 in downtown Reykjavík, Monkeys is a warm and vibrant escape where the purity of the North meets the rhythmic heat of the South. The kitchen is a tribute to world-class Icelandic produce, reimagined through a bold fusion of South American and Asian influences. By applying centuries-old Eastern techniques and spirited Western spices to Iceland's finest raw materials, they create a dining experience that is both deeply local and daringly exotic.
The pulse of our kitchen is the Josper charcoal oven. This legendary charcoal grilling method allows us to transform Icelandic delicacies with a signature smoky intensity. From the pristine waters of the North Atlantic come our fresh-caught Icelandic cod and charred salmon, while the rugged Icelandic landscape provides our premium mountain lamb — each dish elevated by the searing heat of the charcoal flame. For the steak enthusiast, Monkeys offers a masterfully grilled variety including tenderloin, rich Ribeye, and exquisite Wagyu, all perfected in the Josper.
The adventure continues at the cocktail bar, a glamorous, 1920s-inspired sanctuary. Here, guests can board the famous Champagne Train — a full-sized vintage railroad car — to enjoy an innovative menu of exotic cocktails or explore our extensive wine list. We take pride in offering over 30 wines by the glass, with a premier focus on Champagnes and sparkling wines from around the world.
